• Beetlejuice Almost Had a Different Name: Did you know that Beetlejuice was almost named "Betelgeuse" after the star? Thank goodness they changed it! Read more about it.
• The original script wasn’t very funny: The first draft for Beetlejuice was much darker, and more of a gothic horror, with the titular character being a winged reptilian demon, who ends up assaulting Lydia instead of trying to marry her. Burton re-wrote it to make it much more light, humorous and family-friendly. 
• The Production Team Found the Right Town on a Postcard: Before Google existed, finding the perfect filming location wasn't easy. Production designer Bo Welch recalls driving aimlessly across Vermont for "Beetlejuice," eventually stumbling upon the charming town of East Corinth through repeated sightings of its postcard in local stores. This serendipitous discovery highlights the resourcefulness required in pre-internet filmmaking.
